We work mostly with
birch plywood for its structural integrity,
lightness and sustainability. For durability and
consistency, the top surface (laminate) is
pre-applied to the sheet material as part of the
industrial plywood-manufacturing process.
Specialised cutting tools allow us to mill the
material without damaging the surface.
Our plywood is produced with timber from cultivated
forests in Latvia and Finland.
Plywood is the most
economical way of processing timber logs: a veneer
is peeled off the cut log by rotating it against an
angled blade.
Note: On some of
our ply products, we seal the edges of the material
with a mixture of oil and wax. Although all these
finishes are waterproof, birch is not a timber you
can leave outdoors for too long.

DARK
Laminate
An overlaid, dark brown industrial film, with
deep red reflections in sunlight. Good for dining
tables, desks and general use.
WHITE Laminate
Our toughest surface, will not scratch. A
melamine-based coating is sprayed onto the board,
then hardened under pressure and heat. Strength
equivalent to Formica, good for kitchen tables and
durability.
OAK
Veneer
A solid wood oak veneer is laminated onto a birch
ply. We oil the surface after assembly with a
mixture of oil and wax. It will age nicely,
especially if exposed to sunlight. Needs a bit of
maintenance: another layer of oil every
year.
If you need a sample of our materials to make up your mind then send us an email with your name, address and which material you would like.

SOLID
Laminate
Resistant to heat, water, sharp knives... We
use it for our tableware range. A black core with
white faces. Made from waste paper and resin.
POLYPROP (P)
A white, semi-translucent plastic with a fine
leathery grain and good light diffusion properties.
We use it for lamps and as internal lining.
AEROPLY 1.5 mm birch ply
Good resistance to temperature and very
flexible. We use it for lamps. An internal layer of
mahogany gives it a reddish glow when lit from
behind.
