Savin Hill's are my favourite sausages at the moment. The middle-white sausages always sell out quickly at the farmers' market, which is hardly surprising. I get them from the monthly Manchester market.

They have an absolutely superb flavour - they come from specialist middle-white rare breed stock - and an unbeatable texture. First rate. I was a judge on the Best British Banger panel a few years ago - a pity these weren't available then - they''d have been in with a shout.

Almost as good are their pork, port and damson chipolatas which have a fantastic balance of meatiness, fruit and the generous headiness of the port. It''s hard to decide whether they were better grilled, good as they were, or lobbed in a casserole (superb !). I put some in a casserole of pheasant and beans and they stole the show. But I still like to keep a few back for my breakfast!

They also do other specials depending on the season. (Their steaks are top notch too, but that's another story !) If you like their sausages, you''ll like their pies too - lots of pork and fruit combinations - try the pork and gooseberry! My favourite stall on the market (Sillfield Farm is good too when I fancy a change!)

Savin Hill’s middle white sausages are absolutely outstanding. I was tired of sausages made from flavourless pork and have been eating wild boar sausages for added flavour. However the flavour of the middle white sausages is absolutely superb – the tastiest sausage I’ve ever had – so good that they need no herbs or anything else. Fantastic.

I am a food writer and I have to sy that the middle white pork I had recently from Savin HIll Farm was the best I have ever had. I fed a hungry crowd of friends (some of whom are also food writers) and they echoed my comments entirely. I shall be ordering my pork from Savin Hill from now on!
