Gabriel Machin - Boerewors
By: Boerewors is South African for ?Farmers Sausage?. In the UK they are usually made with beef and pork fat (but can be made with pork, beef or mutton). Flavorings usually include coriander and vinegar. They are either cooked on the grill or barbecue (braai in Afrikaans).
The Boerewors from Gabriel Machin has all these flavors and more (a subtle hint of Cinnamon and cloves)? They are sold in small spirals secured by a wooden skewer and are perfect for throwing on the bbq. Many beef sausages are dry, these are moist, even after we slightly over cooked them in the oven. They sell from the shop in beautiful Henley-on-Thames and also via mail order, other good sausage varieties include a spicy Merguez and a Wild boar sausage.
They cost a reasonable £6.75 a kilo.
